The Conqueror won ‘Best International Documentary’ at the British Documentary Film Festival.
At its German premiere The Conqueror took home “Best Documentary Short” at The Munich Film Awards.
This past Saturday The Conqueror took home “Best Documentary Short” at the Oxford Film Festival. In his acceptance speech Timothy Blackwood recognized the other documentary filmmakers whose films highlighted heroes that are often not given the spotlight by the mainstream. Blackwood went on to praise Jerome Conquest for being a beautiful example for how dreams can be realized.

Director Timothy Blackwood and Producer Bradford Downs represent The Conqueror at the 2019 Oxford Film Festival.
After a packed screening, star Jerome Conquest, director Timothy Blackwood, and producer Bradford Downs answered questions about making The Conqueror. Jerome Conquest spoke about growing up in Philadelphia’s Strawberry Mansion and the important initiatives he undertakes to help his community. The group talked about what is in store next for the film and the strong bond of friendship that has formed between them. The Conqueror team was joined by associate producer Lila Sugerman of Period End of Sentence and filmmaker and Zach Keifer.
“The College of William and Mary is a very special place for me. It’s my alma mater and I’m thrilled to be able to introduce the film to students and the wider Hampton Roads community. It so important that stories like Jerome’s have a platform and I couldn’t be happier to be introducing this film that we’ve all worked so hard on” says, producer Bradford Downs.
“We’re thrilled that we’ll be coming together to represent the film at the College of William and Mary. Jerome is taking time out of his busy training schedule to come. His presence will allow for university students to see a strong and powerful message of hope and redemption from the Philadelphia inner city” says, director Timothy Blackwood.

The Conqueror receives it’s first international award nomination at the Sydney Short Film Festival.
Jerome Conquest will return to the boxing ring March 1st at The Parx Casino. Once more he will proudly represent Joe Hand Gym, his family, and his community, Strawberry Mansion.
The Conqueror will have its South Carolina premiere at 2019 Beaufort International Film Festival.
